Wrestling was not a late novelty in Frank Fuller’s life. The surviving record begins with varsity wrestling at DuBois, follows a strong senior season and a later-reported 1948 Junior AAU championship, then reappears after the 1955 football season when Frank worked professional matches in Kentucky and the Midwest. By 1958, the Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle had a new ring identity: The Battering Ram.

Wrestling Timeline
The surviving database records Frank at 2–5 during the 1945–46 season. A 185-pound championship bracket identifies him as a DuBois sophomore and preserves one specific tournament result: Tyrone’s Merle Bickle defeated him by a 6–0 decision.
Frank’s surviving senior-season record is 10–3. School material identifies him as a senior wrestling letterman, while his biography describes him competing in the varsity heavyweight class and doing a remarkable job.
A later University of Kentucky biography states that Frank was a junior AAU champion as a schoolboy in 1948. It is his strongest documented high-school wrestling honor.
The 1958 Associated Press account says that after the 1955 football season Frank worked the mat game in Kentucky and the Midwest. This establishes professional wrestling activity before the 1958 publicity announcing a new phase of his wrestling career.
Rams material and the 1958 Associated Press story preserve Kentucky Colonel as Frank’s earlier wrestling identity. The name connected his wrestling persona to his University of Kentucky years.
The Associated Press reported that the 6-foot-4, 245-pound Rams defensive tackle would now be billed as The Battering Ram. The football team name became part of his professional wrestling identity.

The crop provides a focused visual connection to the high-school wrestler later remembered in professional coverage as having learned the sport in DuBois.
Professional Wrestling — Identity and Reinvention
The professional record is strongest when it preserves the names Frank actually used and the places where the contemporary article says he worked. It does not require inventing a complete match ledger.
The 1958 article says Frank had used this name previously and ties the title to his University of Kentucky years. That is evidence of a wrestling identity—not evidence that he wrestled on the University of Kentucky varsity team.
The new name joined his wrestling persona directly to his Los Angeles Rams identity. A 1958 Rams profile independently confirms that he wrestled professionally in the offseason as “The Battering Ram.”
