DuBois Roots Room — Full Expansion
Before Frank Fuller became a Kentucky lineman and an NFL defensive tackle, the core of his athletic identity was already visible at DuBois High School: right-tackle football, varsity heavyweight wrestling, track and field, school recognition, and a senior-year profile that pointed toward Kentucky.
DuBois Identity — Class of 1948
The surviving school material includes Frank’s senior biography, football and wrestling references, formal portrait material, and a separate class-page image. Together they establish both his school identity and a rare contemporary glimpse of how he was remembered before college.
The yearbook described a six-foot-four student with blond hair who was familiar throughout the school and highly regarded by classmates and teachers. It recorded the nickname “Flat-top”, roller skating, his appetite, a switch from the Vocational Shop Course to the Academic course, and the expectation that he would enroll at Kentucky.

The yearbook does not establish when the nickname began, why Frank changed academic courses, how the Kentucky opportunity was arranged, or a complete picture of his personality and private life. Those gaps remain open rather than being filled from inference.
Football — Towering Right Tackle
Football is the strongest through-line in the DuBois evidence. Frank is identified as a senior right tackle and football letterman, with district recognition and later Kentucky confirmation of a separate All-County tackle selection.

The DuBois yearbook identifies Frank at right tackle. Kentucky’s later biography then says he made the All-County team as a tackle at DuBois and played the same position on Kentucky’s freshman team.
The yearbook’s first-team all-district wording and Kentucky’s later All-County description are preserved as two distinct honors. They are not collapsed into one generic “all-star” label.
This is contemporary praise for disruptive line play. The exhibit does not convert the phrase into a sack total, tackle total, or other modern statistic that the source never supplied.
The current DuBois sources do not provide a complete game log or individual statistical record. The room therefore centers positions, honors, photographs and contemporary descriptions instead of invented totals.

Wrestling — Varsity Heavyweight
The yearbook says Frank wrestled in the heavyweight class on the varsity squad and “did a remarkable job.” Other school material identifies him as a senior wrestler and letterman at 185 pounds.

The historical wrestling database itself warns that its statistics may be incomplete, so these figures are presented as the surviving record, not necessarily Frank’s complete career total.
A surviving 185-pound championship bracket identifies Frank as a DuBois sophomore and records a 6–0 decision loss to Merle Bickle of Tyrone. It is a valuable specific result inside an otherwise incomplete wrestling record.
By his senior season, Frank’s surviving record is 10–3. School evidence identifies him as a varsity heavyweight wrestler and senior wrestling letterman.
1948 Recognition — Source-Limited Honor
A 1952 University of Kentucky biography states that Frank “was junior AAU champ as schoolboy in 1948.” It is his strongest currently documented schoolboy wrestling honor.

A DuBois yearbook group page lists Frank as a member of Hi-Y, adding a documented non-athletic activity to a profile otherwise dominated by football and wrestling.

Frank’s senior yearbook anticipated that he would enroll at Kentucky. Kentucky’s own later biography connects the two stages directly by stating that he made the All-County team as a tackle at DuBois and played the same position on the freshman team.

Evidence Boundaries — Preserved Open Questions
One separate yearbook page conflicts with stronger evidence by describing Frank among boys not wrestling officially. It remains in the conflict register and does not overturn the varsity and letterman evidence.
A supplied yearbook page is not clear enough to establish that Frank was named. Cross-country participation is therefore not presented as verified.
The honor wording is supported, but the exact tournament, location, level, weight class and division remain unresolved.
The yearbook predicts Kentucky and later Kentucky records confirm the transition, but the current sources do not explain the recruiting process that connected the two.
