In 1959, Frank joined Chicago as an established defensive tackle and immediately entered the strongest recognition stretch of his professional career. Contemporary and historical records support a Pro Bowl selection plus separate Associated Press and New York Daily News second-team All-NFL honors.
After the move to St. Louis, The Sporting News named him to its 1960 All-NFL First Team. A season-ending broken leg then removed a player newspapers described as important to the defense. The following year, coverage identified him as defensive captain and followed his determined return.
